The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires that all packaged foods sold in the United States must comply with the requirements of the 21 CFR part 101 for protecting consumers’ health and safety by providing them with accurate information about the food products they consume.

Food manufacturers and distributors have a legal obligation to comply with the regulations outlined in 21 CFR Part 101.
